About

Dr. Hari Tumu is a board-certified neurosurgeon who has been serving the Austin community since 2002, following completion of his residency at The Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus. He has extensive experience in both cranial and spinal surgery and was the first neurosurgeon in Central Texas to perform an awake craniotomy.

Dr. Tumu treats a wide range of complex neurological conditions, including brain tumors such as gliomas, meningiomas, metastases, and pituitary adenomas, as well as intracranial hemorrhages, Chiari malformations, and skull-based tumors. He also specializes in spine conditions affecting the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar regions, including disc herniations, stenosis, spondylolisthesis, and spinal tumors.

He is highly skilled in advanced neurosurgical techniques, including craniotomy, tumor resection, and minimally invasive endoscopic brain surgery. In spine surgery, he performs decompressions and fusions of the cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine for traumatic, degenerative, and neoplastic conditions, as well as minimally invasive techniques. He also has expertise in using minimally invasive techniques for outpatient spine surgery. 

His expertise includes procedures such as ACDF, ALIF, and TLIF, as well as microdiscectomy, laminectomy, and foraminotomy. Dr. Tumu is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is an active member of the Texas Association of Neurological Surgeons and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons. He is continually recognized as an Austin Monthly Top Doctor and a Texas Monthly Super Doctor, reflecting his commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care.
