Dr. Marcella Madera came to Austin from Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine where she was a faculty instructor of neurosurgery and an AOSpine fellow. She completed her residency in neurosurgery at the University of Cincinnati and Mayfield Clinic and received her medical degree from the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine.
Dr. Madera performs both spinal and cranial surgery to treat a variety of conditions. Being fellowship trained in spine surgery, Dr. Madera has expertise in all spinal approaches and techniques including both open and minimally invasive surgery. She has received numerous academic awards and honors in addition to having authored several articles and textbook chapters. She is board-eligible under the American Board of Neurological Surgeons and is a member of AOSpine, North American Spine Society, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the Frank H. Mayfield Society, and the Travis County Medical Society.
